Thank you for asking…..
The Amish do believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. They also believe in the Trininty.
At a very young age I was taught about Jesus and God. My mother would spend all day on Sunday (the sundays when there was no church service, they only have services every two weeks) telling . . . → Read More: Do the Amish believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and also in the trinity?

Thank you so much for asking…….
What did you do during rumspringa? Did you go anywhere?
Rumspringa is not practiced in all Amish communities and even though it may be practiced in the community you live in you may still not be allow to do it if your parents don’t allow it. It was not allowed or practiced . . . → Read More: I am doing a research project on Amish Life, and I need an “interview section” would you please answer the questions below for me?

Believe it or not the role of an Amish woman is not much different than that of any woman a couple of centuries ago.
In our home as I was growing up it was my mothers duty to do the following:
first and foremost take care of the children
do the cooking and baking
keep the home clean and organized

Like I stated in an earlier post, if an Amish girl wants to date someone that is not Amish she will either have to leave the Amish or that person would have to join the Amish. Inter-lifestyle households do not exist among any Amish communities. The reason this is not allowed is it could cause too much . . . → Read More: Are the Amish girls allowed to date outside the Amish community? At what age can they date? The Amish do not believe in arranged marriages or at least not in the community that I lived in.
We were allowed to choose our own partner as long as he/she was Amish. Choosing a partner from a non-Amish lifestyle was not allowed, unless that person would first become Amish.
Three years after I had left the Amish . . . → Read More: Do Amish have arranged marriages?

Domestic violence is just as common among the Amish community as it is outside. I know some people don’t believe that and I would love to report that too, however, we have to remember that Amish people are human beings just like the rest of the world. They experience the same feelings and emotions as anyone . . . → Read More: I am currently doing comparative research on the Amish community and their rates/belief practices on domestic violence. I would gladly accept any help you can lend me.

Thank you for asking……
From the family of ten children, four are still practicing the Amish lifestyle and six are not. It is unusual for sixty percent of a family to leave. Unfortunately that was not the case with our family. I feel sad for my parents and the remain Amish siblings that we cannot all enjoy . . . → Read More: Are your siblings still in that lifestyle?

You are correct….the Amish do not believe in baptizing babies.
As for what they do believe…….They read the King James version of the Bible in the High German language. They do believe in God and Jesus Christ as the son of God who died on the cross for our salvation. At eighteen years old I was baptized . . . → Read More: You say that all share the practice of believer’s or adult baptism. What are Amish beliefs? Do they believe Jesus died on the cross for us and our salvation? Thank you. I loved your book, Growing up Amish.

Thank you for asking…….
Currently I am diligently working on getting that book put together. Please be patient with me as I don’t seem to have a whole lot of time to work on it these days.
My 40 hr a week job, plus family time (2 children and husband) keeps me very busy. However, I do set . . . → Read More: When is your second book coming out?
